From Cocoa Beach, Florida to Alanya and back to Washington. A story about passion and enthusiasm
One thing leads to another they say and that's exactly what has happened when a gentleman from the US bought a lamp from our Amazon store as a gift for his wife. I wrote about my experience with him (Sorry I never mention names as a respect for privacy) a couple of weeks ago. After a short while, his brother-in-law got in touch with me, looking for a custom order gourd lamp. I was very happy to see that one nice job we completed led more business come in but I never thought t

Thanks a lot 'Veysi'.
I know that I haven't been able to write a blog post for a while but didn't realize that it has been over two weeks already. Woow. That's a long time but surely that was a busy period. Thankfully, Rising Star started the new year quite successfully and the first two months have been the best ever since we focused on gourd lamps. Considering that it is the slowest time of the year, I am proud that we reached a satisfactory level of sales figure which we didn't expect at this t

Further Progression. Rising Star introduces Montana Colors 94.
I always underline that Rising Star is a progressive workshop. When I say 'progressive', most of the time, I mention about the designs that you see. But there are other things that most people will not recognize immediately unless they are from the industry or have in-depth knowledge about the materials that we use or what we make. For me, progession has many dimensions to its meaning but we mostly talk about the design side of our craft. February marks another stage in Risin

Someone you love, loves purple.
More than a lamp with a lot of purples, A Phenomenal Purple is a bizarre object, a collector's item and unique piece of handcraft.

A sunday visit to home town.
It was a wonderful, sunny Sunday in Alanya yesterday. So me and my wife decided visit some green and took our gourds with us believing that they would be happy to visit their hometown too. We had a great time together and here is the summary of the day we had together. I am going to keep this blogpost to visuals rather than the words. Have a look at the tooltips to have a better understanding of the story behind the photos. #custommadegourdlamps #gourdlamp #gourddesign #handm

Beyond Dreams... My Pride & Joy. Have a Great Saturday.
I have a habit of reviewing our collection every January. Go through each gourd lamp design one by one. See how they did the previous year, should I keep them in the collection, should I make revisions or simply re-make and capture them once again. I added a good few new designs to Rising Star Gourd Lamp Collection already. I also decided to remove some of the designs, maybe not permanently but until I re-visit them. For the time being, they have been removed from my Rising S

Maybe in 2018. Why not? Happy new year and thanks a million.
A rainy Saturday afternoon in the wonderful resort of Alanya. We left behind the summer'17 season only a few weeks ago and now we are preparing to leave behind the year 2017. Although it has been a successful year for 'Rising Star' (with a few hick-ups), I don't feel the same for the humanity. I don't necessarily think that it has gone worse but definitely no improvement. Why do I think the humanity hasn't gone worse? Because I believe that it has always been this way. I look

A review of 2017.. Rising Star Workshop. Can we sustain what we claim?
Yes, we can... and we will. It was a crucial decision we took a year and a half ago. Our region and our country weren't going through the best of the times. Problems in Syria and millions of refugees moving to Turkey. We had serious problems with Russia as we took one of their army planes down for accessing our borders. The Russian president Putin wasn't happy at all. And eventually, Russians were banned to visit Turkey for their holidays which created a 7.0 scale earthquake

Leaving 2017 behind. A year dominated by the Purple Phenomena.
Christmas is soon and the Rising Star workshop is busy trying to fulfill Christmas orders. We are quite happy with the demand this year and I should thank to all those who consider our work as gifts for their families and their loved ones. Thanks a million. From here, and on behalf of Rising Star Team I can comfortably say that you are all adding to our joy this Christmas and we respect. I hope you all feel the same. I have noticed that I have ignored the blog for a while (be

The Sounds of 2018 from a distance. Even further progress in gourd crafting.
It is a wonderful time of the year for most of the people. Christmas approaching, the excitement of the festive season. Almost everyone has some sort of a plan for that special day and many of us already started to get organized with their gifts. However, the situation in Rising Star workshop is slightly different. While we are trying to fulfill the orders, we are thrilled as we finalized some of the prototypes of our 2018 collection. The pioneers I should say. Please allow m
